Miss Jessica

Owner/Director/Head Teacher

Miss Deanna has a BA in psychology from UMASS Amherst, a MA in Elementary Education and an MA in Child and Developmental Psychology, both from UCONN. She has been an at-home mom with her 3 children - 25 year old identical twin daughters, and an 18 year old son. She also loves being "Auntie Dee" to her 7 nieces and nephews and has 3 dogs at home!

She has always enjoyed working with children, starting with babysitting when she was 12. She worked with preschoolers in college, serving as a Community Residence counselor at a group home for developmentally delayed children and teens, student taught second graders in Ashford, and served as the 4 year old teacher at Mount Olive Daycare Programs in Hartford.  She has also volunteered in several roles with children, including the Teen Mom Mentor Program at Rockville Hospital, and teaching Sunday school, running her church nursery program, and acting as a Sunday School Superindendant.

"I really enjoy working with preschoolers. I have loved being home with my own children, and feel that I can offer the perspective of an experienced mom and teacher. I've seen the stages and experienced the joys and challenges of young children.  Although my MA is in elementary education, when I worked at Mt Olive, I realized that the little ones were my real interest- they are so lively and active, creative and loving. I'm excited to learn and grow along with the children and staff here at Little Farmers!   -Miss Deanna

Miss DEANNA

In 2017, I graduated from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelors in Human Development and Family Studies. I was fascinated with the tremendous amounts of development that occurs during early childhood as well as later stages of life. To bring these interests together I aspire to create intergenerational programs with children, older adults, and maybe animals too!

I am known as "auntie" to two nieces, 11 and 2 years old, and a nephew, 5 years old. I like to do fun educational activities with them such as baking, crafts, and science experiments! I also have volunteered at the Lutz Children's Museum in Manchester and at Bolton Center School in a Kindergarten classroom. I love the excitement children have for learning and helping them cultivate that excitement into a lifelong love of learning brings me great joy.

I have worked at Fish Family Farm Creamery and Dairy in Bolton for 3 years. I love seeing how their Jersey cows inspire children, adults, and families to learn more about farming. I hope to contribute my growing knowledge of milking and dairy processing to the program!

At the age of 16, I became the youngest person ever hired at the Tolland Family Resource Center. Just weeks into the job, I realized how much I enjoyed working with both children and parents alike. I soon became a one-on-one to majority of the special needs children enrolled in the program, which continued for several years following the beginning of my employment.

Meanwhile, my father began creating a Mobile Petting Zoo Service.  After working full time at the FRC during the week, I became fully involved in our Petting Zoo's weekend operations. By the time I was 20 years old, I was on the road driving this 36 ft trailer to 3-5 schools in a day with the help of an employee. My passion for animals developed at a very young age, however, little did I know that working with children would be an even more rewarding path.

After high school, I attended Saint Joseph College while continuing to run the Mobile Petting Zoo. I created programs that met the needs of each client throughout the years. After 8 years of introducing the public to my farm animals, I felt that a more steady and educational program could be established where I could work with both children and animals on a daily basis.

After purchasing the property where the center is now located, my father and I spent two years reconstructing the 1810 structure into what is now a beautiful licensed child care center with a detached indoor post and beam barn. My passion for working with children and animals together has grown tremendously! Nothing is more rewarding at the end of the day than walking away from your job knowing that not only did you make an impact on a child, but you (unknowingly in their eyes) taught them responsibility.

Now, with 8 years of experience of child/animal education under my belt, I have finally pursued my dream of operating my own preschool program. Little Farmers opened July 2015.

Consider allowing your children to be part of this unique program where they will take part in learning how to clean, maintain, groom and care for a number of traditional farm animals in addition to the preschool framework the state provides.

I am the owner, director and head teacher of this center. Please email or call with any questions.      -Jessica Sharon

I am a Mother of 3, a 14-year-old, 10-year-old and an 8-year-old. I am heavily involved in many youth programs with my children. I am a 4H leader of Canine Commanders in Lebanon CT, and an AWANA leader at Baptist Fellowship church in Columbia, CT. I volunteer every summer at VBS camp and work in the nursery at our church. My children and I raise chickens and rabbits, and we show at local fairs, 4H fairs, as well as in American rabbit breeders association shows. They also show and train dogs for 4H and AKC. I grew up in Webster, NH on a small hobby farm. As a child I raised and showed farm animals and dogs in 4H. I was an active member of two 4H clubs and you could find me showing my dogs at the Big E every fall. After high school I went to the New Hampshire Technical Institute and graduated with an Associates in Early childhood education. I went on to Plymouth State University for 3 years and studied elementary education, special education, and child Psychology. Through college I worked for not only at a childcare center and summer program, but I ran my own pet sitting business on the side where I often took care of sheep, horses, chickens and milked goats. In 2004, I moved to Connecticut with my husband and daughter. I worked for the Navy Child Development center where I was the lead teacher of the 2 and 3-year-old classroom. There I participated in many workshops on developmentally appropriate practices for young children. I spent several years homeschooling my children before deciding to return to school and finish my degree. In 2015 I graduated from Eastern State University with a Bachelor’s in general studies majoring in Psychology. After receiving my degree, I worked at a wonderful preschool where we focused on play based practices and the importance of learning through play. I received my Head teacher Certification and look forward to teaching preschool children and allowing the to learn and explore the world around them.
